Escape to the coast. Every day.
For me, the Australian coastline has always been more than a place.
It's where I go to slow down, clear my mind and reconnect with what matters. Standing alone on a beach at sunrise, I'm reminded how much beauty, freedom and possibility still exist in life and the world around us.
Those moments have inspired my work for more than 25 years.
My goal as an artist is not simply to paint beaches and oceans, but to capture the feeling they create. A sense of calm, perspective, and freedom. The feeling that life still holds many potentials and possibilities waiting to be explored.
In many ways, I'm not really painting beaches. I'm painting a state of being.
I know that standing alone on a beach can change the way we see our problems, our possibilities and even ourselves. It can restore perspective, awaken optimism and reconnect us with something deeper... A sense of connection to something larger than ourselves.
And I believe art has the power to bring some of that feeling into our homes and into our daily lives. A piece of artwork is one of the few things you can purchase once and experience every day for decades.
If witnessing the raw energy our coastline changes how you feel... If it reminds you to slow down, breathe, become present and reconnect with what's important, then bringing that feeling into the place where you live can have value far beyond decoration.
If one of my paintings can transport someone back to a favourite place, rekindle a special memory, or simply bring a little more peace, freedom and possibility into their life each day, then I feel I have succeeded.
Scott Christensen
Redland Bay, Queensland

That connection to the coast has remained at the heart of Scott's work ever since. From North Stradbroke Island and Noosa to Byron Bay and beyond, his paintings are inspired by places he knows, visits and genuinely loves — capturing not just how the Australian coast looks, but how it feels.

Scott Christensen paints full-time from his Redland Bay studio, inspired by the freedom, beauty and escape of the Australian coast.
